Air-Ice Storage Bögl: Sustainable heating and cooling supply

The German government's goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions to zero by 2045 requires more efficient and sustainable supply systems. Our system uses the crystallization energy produced when water freezes into ice to generate part of the heating energy. In summer, the system can be used in reverse for pre-cooling by cooling the ice storage tank at night to cover peak loads during the day.

In addition to active cooling with a heat pump, we also offer economical, passive cooling without a heat pump. Integration into a building management system also enables load shifting of surplus electricity, e.g. from the building's own PV system.

Modern design for efficient energy transmission

Flexible, functional and pleasing to the eye

A storage module consists of a three-meter deep, non-insulated concrete basin to allow energy to be exchanged between the ground and the ice store. Inside the basin are long pipes in which a frost-proof brine consisting of a water-glycol mixture circulates. The air module with the large air heat exchangers is located in the upper third of the basin. The whisper fan located in the middle of the surface guides the fresh ambient air through the air heat exchanger. Thanks to its modern, customized design, the air-ice storage can be placed next to buildings for visual enhancement or as a purely functional unit behind them.
