Max Bögl acquires five LTM 1750-9.1 mobile cranes from Liebherr to expand wind energy

There is high demand for wind turbines to advance the energy transition, and this demand is currently rising steadily. Every additional meter of height has a positive effect on yield. This demand for new hub heights also requires improved crane technology to enable the implementation of these challenging projects. As the market and technology leader for hybrid towers in Germany, Max Bögl is therefore continuing to expand its production and assembly capacities and has also purchased five additional mobile cranes from Liebherr in advance.

The Hybrid Tower Bögl consists of two components: concrete and steel. Depending on the Hub height of the turbine, the concrete tower alone—which is composed of up to 35 individual rings—can reach a height of up to 110 meters. The rings to be lifted by the cranes weigh between approx. 28 and 60 tons each. The rings are 2.8 m high and have a diameter of between 4 and 12 meters.

Fast and flexible implementation between projects

The LTM 1750-9.1 mobile crane is the ideal machine for the Hybrid Tower Bögl. The crane is easy to assemble and dismantle, making it ideal for flexible and fast deployment between projects. The total load of the LTM 1750-9.1 is distributed across 9 axles, which also simplifies transport. Thanks to the 52-meter-long telescopic boom in combination with a wide variety of lattice jib configurations, the crane is also capable of lifting heavy loads to a height of up to 152 meters.

"New approaches and technologies are needed to expand wind energy. With our in-house expertise and vertical integration, combined with reliable partners, we are ideally equipped to meet the challenges ahead. We look forward to continuing and intensifying our cooperation with Liebherr in the future when it comes to applying the principles of industrial construction to concrete tower construction. The crane will play a decisive role in data acquisition and processing."
